Bedfordshire ASA would like to offer advance notice that the Annual General Meeting of Bedfordshire ASA will take place on 21 November 2019 at Flitwick Village Hall, Dunstable Road, Flitwick, MK45 1HP commencing at 7.30 pm. An agenda and full details of the venue and voting arrangements will be circulated at least 14 days before the meeting.
The Beds ASA Constitution requires that nominations for election of members to any office of the Executive shall be made in writing, using the appropriate form, to the Secretary not later than 21 days prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting. The separate proposer and seconder and the nominee, who must be members of Bedfordshire ASA Clubs and the ASA, shall be required to sign the form. The nominee shall indicate on the nomination form his/her willingness to stand for election and give a brief election address which shall be circulated with the agenda. Nominations must reach me by 31 October, using the attached form (which will be available on our web site and I will bring copies to the forthcoming Executive meeting).
The constitution also makes provision that any member club, or member of the Executive, can propose a resolution to be moved at the AGM. Any such resolution must have a proposer and seconder and be submitted in writing to the Secretary not less than 21 days prior to the date of the AGM (i.e. by 31 October).
May I clarify that all posts are subject to re-election and some will be vacated due to retirement. Executive posts are: President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Age Group & Championships Secretary, Competition Secretary, County Welfare Officer, Development Officer, Disability Secretary, Diving Secretary, Masters Secretary, Officials Secretary, Water Polo Secretary, Open Water Secretary and Synchro Secretary. To assist with the recruitment of officers and section secretaries we have published Role Descriptions for all posts and these may be found on the Beds ASA web site at http://www.bedscountyasa.com/.
I would like to encourage anyone considering standing for election to the Executive to contact me as soon as possible and in any event before 31 October. Beds ASA is powered entirely by volunteers and applications to join the team are always welcome. Supplying a Nomination Statement enables the agenda for the AGM to show the names of those nominated and include some information about why they wish to be considered. This will inform any contested election, which will be conducted by a secret ballot of those present and eligible to vote.
I look forward to seeing you at the AGM in November.
As normal, the AGM will be followed by a short Executive meeting and an agenda for this will be circulated nearer the time.
Secretary, Beds ASA
